Fancy Fire Skills, Poetry And Feasting?

Saturday 30 November

Re-connect with your primal roots by coming to this afternoon and evening of fireside activities and feasting on a beautiful Somerset farm. Learn outdoor survival skills from someone who has really lived in the wild, connect with friends and meet new ones by creating some collaborative poetry.

Do you celebrate Thanksgiving? Mix it up this year with a lovely earthier version of your usual feast. If you don't, this is simply a chance to get creative, reflect on your year out in the fresh air and connect with like-minds over some great grub.

Woodland Thanksgiving 2

How are your fire skills doing?

Take part in wild workshops

You will have the opportunity to attend two workshops during the afternoon.

1. Fire skills

The Fire Skills workshop will be led by Stef Roberts, aka 'Nomad'. Stef became known by this name through his brilliant YouTube vlog where he documented the five years he spent sleeping outside.

He will be sharing some of the skills he developed, like:

  • Identifying trees
  • Cutting wood for a fire
  • Cooking on a fire
  • Starting fires efficiently
  • Mastering knots for tying up a hammock

2. House of Figs: Poetry and Music session

The second workshop will be led by typewriter poet Beth Calverley. She will create a magical poem woven from your gratitude stories. Beth Roberts will layer a musical soundscape over her words to bring them to life as well.

Woodland Thanksgiving 3

Sit down to a 3-course thanksgiving feast

You've earnt a feast

After all this physical and linguistic creativity, you will get to sit down to a three-course thanksgiving feast created by Hannah Thomas of Herbs & Wild.

During the meal, House of Figs will also perform a few of their own poetry pieces.

Come and celebrate under the stars with Wild Folk.
