Run, forest, run

We all know a walk in a forest or green space is good for us but a recent Mind survey says that a walk amongst the trees boosts mental health for 94% of us. With that in mind, the Forestry Commission in England has organised a series of events, ‘Feel Good Autumn’.

We independently research all featured brands and products. To avoid waste, we test products on an as needed basis. This post contains affiliate links. If you buy something through our links, we may earn a small commission. Learn more about why we do this here.

Walking trails or cycling routes are being highlighted for people who want some quiet time (see the Forestry Commission site for tips for practising mindfulness in forests), while forest activities have been created for those who want to be more active, there’s Nordic walking in the Forest of Dean, yoga and even a zombie run in Delamere Forest.

Discover the Forestry Commission’s ten secret spots for an amazing view (and forest art in Cumbria or giant redwoods in Kent) or get creative – there are dry stone walling workshops in Dalby Forest or chair making courses in Westonbirt Arboretum.

Hayley Jarvis, Community Programmes Manager for Mind said, “We’re delighted to be partnering with the Forestry Commission. Doing physical activity in the fresh air, be it walking or conservation work, is natural, free and accessible and it has been proven to boost mental wellbeing as well as improving physical health.”
