Gecko Hotel & Beach Club can be found on Formentera prettiest beach, the Playa Migjorn and it wants all of 10kms of white sand to stay that way.
After a huge renovation project last year, the hotel feels more like a relaxed coastal club than a Balearic posing palace but its taken its footprint on the island a lore more seriously.

Gecko Hotel & Beach Club is the first on Formentera to make the plastic free commitment
All of the hotel’s plastic will be replaced with biodegradable options while employee uniforms have been redesigned by ethical fashion brand, ECOALF, who specialise in turning fishing nets into fashion. Charging stations have been installed for electric cars and the hotel’s chefs focus on using farm to table suppliers
The hotel is also raising funds for the island’s exceptional sea beds which give it its stunning blue hue. The Save Posidonia Project was started last year with a commitment to more of an eco-tourism programme for the whole island - click here for what else the Balearic island is doing to preserve its unique eco heritage.
