It's not all early mornings and mud, see for yourself what it’s like to run a farm - this Sunday 11 June is the LEAF Open Farm Sunday and hundreds of farms across the UK are welcoming visitors with open arms (and plenty of animals).

As well as activities for kids, the annual open day allows adults to understand how real farms operate and how sustainable measures are protecting wildlife and the environment. For anyone who’s interested in small holdings, husbandry or homesteading it’s a great opportunity to pop along and see a real farm in action.
There'll be chickens to cuddle, cows to milk, nature walks and demonstrations. It's a chance to get back to basics when it comes to learning where our food really comes from.
“Modern farming is incredibly diverse and impacts on all of us - from the clothes we wear to the medicines we take and the food we eat,” says Annabel Shackleton, Open Farm Sunday Manager at LEAF. “Farming plays a vital part in each of our lives. LEAF Open Farm Sunday gives us the rare opportunity to see farming in real life and to learn about the hard work, care and pride that goes into the work farmers do, which is so vital to the environment, our lives and the economy.
