How To Make A Solar Infused Herbal Oil


3 cups of lime blossom flowers
2 cups of lemon verbena leaves
2 unwaxed lemons cut into slices (or 1 whole grapefruit for a twist!)
500g sugar
1 tsp citric acid
750ml boiled water


  1. Pour the boiling water over the sugar in a very large mixing bowl and stir well until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Add the citric acid and lemon and stir.
  3. Add the lemon verbena and lime blossom.
  4. Leave to infuse with a lid covering for 48 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. Strain through a sieve with a piece of muslin and transfer to sterilised bottles. Use within a year.
